  1. What class is the IP address 193.59.107? What is the default subnet mask for this class? Ans: IP address belongs to Class-C Subnet mask- 255. 255.

  2. Taking into account only the structure of the IPv4 packet headers: a. What is the maximum permissible size (in bits) for an IPv4 packet? Ans: 524280 bits b. How many IPv4 addresses can exist? Ans: 2^32(4,294,967,296) addresses can exist.

  3. Suppose that a router uses the following routing table: Subnet Number

SubNet Mask Next Hop

128.96.39 255.255. 28

Interface 0 128.96.39 255.255. 28

Interface 1 128.96.40 255.255. 28

Interface 2 192.4.153 255.255. 92

Interface 3 default - Interface 4

Which interface will the router use for the next hop for each of the following destination addresses: a. 128.96.39 - Interface 1

b. 128.96.40- Interface 2 c. 128.96.39- Interface 1 d. 192.4.153- Interface 3 e. 192.4.153- Interface 3

Tip: Apply each subnet mask and if the corresponding subnet number matches the SubnetNumber column, then use the entry in Next-Hop. 4. How many subnets and hosts per subnet can you get from the network 174.20.0 / 255.255.240? Ans: Subnets- 4096 Host/subnet- 4096
