Presentation Guidelines:
Formulate a diagnosis for the character using the DSM-5, be sure to provide justification
for your diagnostic formulation.
Use a theory to explain how the character developed the illness.
Provide two questions for discussion with the class.
Be creative
Relevant information that should be considered as you prepare the presentation:
Psychological Dysfunction - breakdown in cognitive, emotional, behavioural and social
functioning.
Personal Distress - difficulty performing appropriate and expected roles; impairment
set in the context of person’s background; history of distress.
Atypical or not culturally expected response - reaction is outside cultural norms.
Family background and relevant history (drug, marital, sexual etc.)
What has contributed to the symptoms that the character is having.
