Reduces inflammation, bronchoconstriction, airway edems, and mucus production
Oral
Warfarin (medication inhibits metabolization of warfarin = increased levels)
Theophylline (medication inhibits metabolization of theophylline = increases levels)
Phenytoin (inhibits montelukast)
Do not use it if pregnant
Do not use it in patients who have liver dysfunction
Depression
Suicidal ideations
Liver injury
Provides long-term therapy for asthma and exercise induces bronchospasm
