Mirisa Clendinen Montelukast 17 Leukotriene Modifier

Reduces inflammation, bronchoconstriction, airway edems, and mucus production

  • Oral

  • Warfarin (medication inhibits metabolization of warfarin = increased levels)

  • Theophylline (medication inhibits metabolization of theophylline = increases levels)

  • Phenytoin (inhibits montelukast)

  • Do not use it if pregnant

  • Do not use it in patients who have liver dysfunction

  • Depression

  • Suicidal ideations

  • Liver injury

  • Provides long-term therapy for asthma and exercise induces bronchospasm

  • Used for adolescents and adults

  • Monitor for behavior changes

  • Monitor liver funtion

  • Monitor lung sounds

  • Monitor oxygen saturation

  • Long term control of asthma

  • Take medication daily

  • Take medication 2 hours before exercise

  • Do not exceed the prescribed dosage
